Nza 'Bamendou Slavery Encampment Site

Deep In the forest of the town Nza "Bamendou is a well kept secret. A horrifying tale that is screaming to be told. But, in this day in age, who would listen? I beg, all those from the Diaspora who were transported from this site want to know where their ancestors last saw this place called home in Cameroon.

The descendants of slave catchers recants his family history and role in the slave trade. At the Nza 'Bamendou Slave Site in Cameroon

The descendant took us on a tour of the place, showing us where the original house stood.

He walked us down the path that leads to the river where they were shipped to the slave market.

Then, we walked deep into the forest until it became impenetrable. But our eyes could see the spot of imprisonment.

There is a cliff above the valley where the baracoons were structured. As a descendant DNA Cameroonian and I reclaim all inheritance my family lost in the past. I cannot return without my interrupted inheritance being returned to me.

Strategically situated in a valley, the *barracoons' layout made escape extremely difficult for those entrapped. The descendants of former slave catchers have abandoned their ancestral home, leaving it empty due to the eerie feeling and shame associated with their forefathers' actions. They have deserted the land, houses, forest, and the river that flows behind, fearing a curse.

The family is considering a cleansing ritual to atone for their ancestors' sins and may invite the families of slave trade victims, including those from the Historical Diaspora asking for forgiveness to appease the Gods of the land to bring peace back to their land.

* Barracoon - an enclosed structure where slaves were held for a temporary time period.
